This is Nikon Coolpix P6000,a feature filled compact that can hold its head high among the more expensive bridge cameras.

PREVIEW

Nikon’s compacts are always a good bet if you’re looking for a standard snapper. But if you want more than a few shooting modes and a regular 10MP sensor, but don’t fancy grabbing a DSLR, then the new Coolpix P6000 could be the one for you.

As well as a 14MP sensor, 4x optical zoom and a 2.7in LCD screen, the P6000 can take pics in RAW format, unlike other compacts in the Nikon family.

In-built GPS

It’ll hook up directly to Windows Vista using Windows Image Component. And the computer tie–ins don’t end there. The P6000 comes with a “GPS position stamp” (geotagging, in other words), so you can see where you’ve taken your pics on Google Maps.

Throw in full manual mode and you’re looking at an easy to cart around camera at a not wholly offensive price of £429. Make sure you check out our video review to get a close up look.
