Stuff says
a clever design approach that actually works. We predict the Lumix G1 will be on a far few Christmas lists.

Panasonic has just ripped the covers off its much–touted micro four thirds snapper, the G1. The new camera is actually a compact, but looking at it, you could be forgiven for thinking it was a full blown SLR. Just in miniature form.

You get everything you expect from a decent high–end peeper these days, with live view, image stabilisation and autofocus which will fix on a moving image, great fo taking pics when you're down the footy of a Saturday afternoon.

The LCD clocks in at 3in, with a 12MP sensor, but it's real trick is managing to cram in the kind of goods you get from an SLR. It comes with its own bespoke lenses, and you can even get an adaptor to use your existing four thirds lenses. That's pretty darn clever.

Check out out hands–on video to see Ruth put it through its paces at the launch event at Wembley Stadium.
