What's wrong with the BlackBerry Bold?

This is partly because of the physical problem of having to accommodate a usable keypad within the confines of a slim handset. The Storm gets over that, though, as, for the first time on a BlackBerry, it uses a virtual keypad on the touchscreen, which clicks as you press each key. The pad is fast and reliable and has decent error correction, and there is a clever virtual mouse pointer to help select small on-screen details.
